Advantages of living in Valencia
• The region of Valencia is situated in the eastern side of Spain with Valencia City as its capital.
• Valencia is one of the biggest cities of Spain and also one of the liveliest.
• Valencia is one of most dynamic cities in Spain which has many important trade fairs.
• Valencia is the third most important city in Spain.
• In Valencia you can discover remains of most remote civilizations, Iberians, Phoenicians, Romans and Greeks.
Food and Drinks
• Valencia City produces its own rice ‘Arroz de Valencia’ (Valencian rice).
• The best known rice dish is the paella mixta, which is rice cooked with both fish and chicken (or rabbit) and then scented and coloured with saffron.
• Another variation is the paella negra (black paella). This rice dish is coloured by the ink of a squid.
• The region of Valencia produces a wide variety of lemons, oranges and mandarins.
• Valencia has three denominations where wines have its origin. These are Utiel-Requena (west of the Valencia province), Alicante and Valencia, a varied and scattered area.
• The soft drink ‘horchata’ has found its birth in Valencia. It is made of the milk of a plant called Chufas (kind of similar to rice). It’s served cold, smells a little bit like toffee and looks like an off-white milk.
• The famous candy ‘turron’ also originates from Valencia. This candy is made with almonds and it is traditionally eaten when it is Christmas.
Coast and Beaches
• The coast of Valencia has many beautiful resorts with golden beaches and towns full of history.
• Valencia consists of one long beach which is only interrupted by a few cliffs at Cullera.
• Most beaches of Valencia are awarded with the European Blue Flag, which symbolises the guarantee of quality, good conditions, high standards and the use of facilities.
Infrastructure
• Valencia is served by two airports. The first is the Valencia Airport and the other is Alicante Airport.
• Valencia has a motorway which links Valencia to the European network. Other road networks are connected to Barcelona and Alicante to Castille La Mancha and Madrid.
Leisure and Activities
• Valencia offers a wide variety of sports, like tennis, golf, cycling, diving, etc.
• Valencia has numerous of palaces, monuments and churches. Examples are the Cathedral, the Basilica de la Virgen (temple dedicated to the Valencian Patroness), the Torres de Quart (tower which is the work of Pere Bonfill dated from 1444), the Torres de Serranos (tower from the year 1400), etc.
• Valencia has a lot of festivals. Most of the festivals are celebrated with huge fireworks. The most important celebration is of the Fallas. This festivity lasts a whole week from the 15th until the 19th of March.
Weather
• Valencia has a typical Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters.
• All year around you will enjoy pleasant temperatures.
• The average annual temperature is around 18ºC. July and has the highest degrees which is around 25ºC and the coldest period is during December to March/April, with an average degree of 12ºC, which is more like a spring climate than a winter climate.
